すずがみは、錫でできた紙のように薄いプレート。
錫の柔らかさ、鍛金によって鍛えられた、しなやかな心地よさ。
手仕事で最後に叩き刻まれた美しい模様。
手で自由に形を変えることができ、使う人の生活に寄り添います。

Suzugami is a tin plate as thin as paper.
It embodies the softness of tin and a supple, pleasant feel achieved through the art of metal hammering.
It features beautiful patterns meticulously hand-hammered into the surface.
You can freely reshape it by hand, allowing it to adapt to your lifestyle.

「すずがみ」づくりは、錫の素材を溶かすところからはじまります。
一つ一つ手作業で丁寧に不純物を除きます。

すずの材料は余すところなく使い、再利用しています。
また古くなったすずがみをリサイクルすることができます。
The journey of creating "suzugami" begins with melting the pure tin.
By hand, one by one, we carefully remove any impurities from the molten metal.

Every bit of our tin is valued, leaving zero waste through mindful recycling.
Even your well-loved "suzugami" can be melted down and reborn once again.

錫のかたまりを圧延し、板状にします。

幾度も幾度も少しずつ丁寧に圧延することで、
すずがみの特徴であるなめらかで気持ちの良い柔らかさ、
繰り返し曲げることのできる耐久性が生まれます。

根気のいる、すずがみにとって重要なこの圧延の仕事は、
専門の職人がおこなっています。
A solid block of tin is rolled repeatedly, over and over again.
This patient, meticulous rolling process is carried out by specialized artisans,
giving "suzugami" its signature smooth, satisfying flexibility and the exceptional durability to be bent repeatedly.

最後の仕上げ。
職人がリズミカルに叩いて、美しい模様づけをしながら
一鎚一鎚、一枚一枚仕上げています。

金属は、叩くと金属の層がさらに重なり合って繊維状になり、
曲げ伸ばしに強くなります。

簡単そうに見えますが、鍛金の熟練の職人だからこそできる手仕事。

For the final touch, the artisan hammers the metal with a rhythmic beat,
completing each piece one stroke, one sheet at a time, while imparting its beautiful textured pattern.
When hammered, the metallic layers compress and weave into a fibrous structure,
significantly strengthening its resistance to bending and stretching.

It may look effortless, but this intricate handcraft is only possible through the hands of a master metalsmith.

「syouryu」は、明治42年創業以来、寺院用のおりんを専門に製造しているシマタニ昇龍工房の自社ブランドです。
当工房は、全国に10人に満たない「おりん職人」が３人おり、「金鎚で叩く」ことにより板を絞り、丸みを整え、音を調律することでおりんを制作しています。
この「金鎚で叩く」技術により生まれてくる新しいアイテムを今後も作り続けていきます。

"syouryu" is the original brand of Shimatani Syouryu Studio, which has specialized in crafting Orin (temple bells) since its founding in 1909.
Our studio is home to three of the fewer than ten Orin master artisans remaining in Japan.
We create each bell by hand—hammering metal sheets to shape their curves and meticulously tuning their sacred sound.
Through this traditional "hand-hammering" technique, we are committed to creating new, innovative items for the future.
